“ART FOR THE CHEMICAL GENERATION".

In 1994 I set up arthrob as contra statement against Margaret Thatcher Criminal Justice Bill and the growing negativity associated with Club Culture, I produced and pioneered, within Cub Spaces multi disciplinary literature, art djs and live music events.
Arthrob offered exhilarating and pioneering experience within the club cultural space, guided by the slogan “BRINGING CULTURE INTO CLUBS AND CLUBS INTO CULTURE” - While offering innovative and exiting spoken word and book launches for Irvine Welsh, Hanif Kureishe, Biyi Bandele, K Foundation amongst others
A typical event would include theatre, book readings, spoken word, performance art, fashion, together with djs, films and visuals and art installations, graphics by the graphic design studio tomato.
In 1995, arthrob further expanded, by gaining support from Warner Brothers, setting up arthrob records and with support from Perfect Songs (ZZT) we were able to set up a music publishing company.  Releases included the first compilation celebrating 10 years of acid house “Disco Biscuits” (1997),  Sound Museum (1997), album by Japanese Dj Producer Towa Tei which featured Kiley Minogue & Bebel Gilberto, Fini Dolo – Rise (1988)  an album with New York based Slam Poets Sonia Sohn and Saul Williams – “Weather” (1998) album, with the New York composer Michael Gordon, perhaps best known as one of the founders and artistic directors of the Bang on a Can Festival, and finally we successfully compiled a 10-track remix album of the classical composer Steve Reich’s back catalogue into club based remixes (1999) “Reich Remixed”.
